Interaction Program of the Project for the Stakeholders of NVQS and ENSSURE

Highlighting the roles and contributions of the private sectors

Nepal Vocational Qualification System (NVQS) and Enhanced Skills for Sustainable and Rewarding Employment (ENSSURE) are two projects that have started in Nepal for TEVT sector development targeting livelihood development of people in labor market and improve productivity of industries/private sectors. Both projects are designed under the TEVT Policy 2012 and according to CTEVT strategic plan (2014 – 2018). NVQS has planned to improve quality of national skill test system and introduce National Vocational Qualification Framework (NVQF) as well as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment system development. ENSSURE project promotes industry-based training such as apprenticeship, systematic short training courses with robust OJT, worker further trainings based on skill gap identified by RPL assessment. The project aims to address issues of unemployment, underemployment and unfair pay facing the Nepali labor market resulting from the mismatch in skill demanded by the industries.

The initiatives of both projects are new to their stakeholders. Therefore, both projects have planned to orient the stakeholders on projects’ goals and objectives and their strategies and activities together as these projects are supplementing to each other. Both projects need to have strong collaboration with industries/private sectors and people from labor market. On this note, NVQS and ENSSURE projects have planned to organize orientation program jointly for their stakeholders in regions with the sectors.

The program was conducted very successfully. Gracious presence of the Swiss Ambassador, Dr. Jӧrg Frieden valued the program. Very encouraging participation of private sector, training providers and local government, INGOs and NGOs helped in achieving objective of the program. Overall objective of the program was to make the stakeholders acquainted with the projects’ goals and expected results and prepare them to collaborate with the projects’ activities. The program was chaired by the Eastern Regional Director of CTEVT and presented about the projects by team leaders of NVQS and ENSSURE.
